Panoramic Roof
Sky view glass roof

Panoramic roof provides multiple benefits to automotive OEM and consumers.

This large component size is emphasizing the need for increased efficiency,
performance, and safety in glazing.

S-LEC™ PVB Interlayer Film for Laminated Glass

S-LEC™ PVB interlayer film for laminated glass ensures that glass remains bonded to the film in case of breakage, making it a safer product for large roof components. Laminated glass with S-LEC™ film can block up to 99% of UV which renders the internal sunshade redundant.

Design Solution

SEKISUI S-LEC offers a wide selection of visible light transmittance values to match specific market and model preference.
S-LEC™ Wide Gradient Film can be colour matched to create the flush all-glass-roofs aesthetic from windshield to rooflite.

Haze occurs when tiny amounts of light are scattered by the glass causing a small amount of glare. S-LEC™ Films have minimal haze level. Haze performance is more crucial as other technologies are combined.

Enhanced Comfort

Acoustic Benefits

Environmental conditions such as wind friction and rain drop create noise that is experienced inside a vehicle. The current trend for large roof glass can intensify the noise level. However, in vehicle windshield test S-LEC™ Sound Acoustic Film shows an improvement in noise levels of:
– up to 7dB improvement of wind noise
– up to 10db improvement of rain drop test
This acoustic benefit is a key feature for the flush all-glass roofs panoramic styling we see today.

Thermal Comfort

With the use of larger size of panoramic roof it is even more important to block energy from the sun’s rays to provide consistent thermal comfort inside the vehicle. S-LEC™ Solar Control Film can block infrared rays effectively. This reduction in infrared rays inside the vehicle contributes to reduced need for air conditioner and thus energy saving related to EV driving range.

S-LEC™ Interlayer Solution for Switchable Technology

Switchable technology enables instinct privacy when required and is increasingly used in the automotive market but requires a thinner film as well as 0.76mm. SEKISUI S-LEC can provide a thinner PVB film 0.38mm for numerous efficient roof system developments. Typically, Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) is whitish in appearance and can be combined with grey for any Tv preference. To combat the vivid blue appearance of Electrochromic (EC) and Suspended Particle Device (SPD), SEKISUI S-LEC have developed a combination with bronze film to cancel the blue tint. This results in a glass with a more neutral and natural appearance. SEKISUI S-LEC offers a wide selection of colours. Custom colour development is also possible.

Solutions for Panoramic Roof

SEKISUI S-LEC offers a wide range of colours in PVB interlayer film for any type of glass combination. In addition, it is possible to be combined with other performance features like solar control and sound acoustic performance.
