OverviewProduct use examples

The most important element called for in today's automobiles is the reduction of their burden on the environment?but not at the expense of comfort.
The front windshield is becoming even more angled with a larger surface area for aerodynamic and visual reasons, while glass roofs are appearing with an emphasis on comfort.
With these comes an increase in sunlight penetrating the cabin interior which pushes up both air conditioner use and fuel consumption.
S-LEC SCF (Solar Control Film) interlayer film is a solution to this problem-by controlling the cabin temperature, the film contributes to comfort and fuel efficiency.

* Tests have shown that compact cars in a traffic jam that use air conditioning can expect an increase in fuel economy of approximately 3%.

Functions and heat shield performance required in automobiles and architecture

From now on, glass filters out heat, too.

Traditional interlayer film filters out more than 99% of ultraviolet rays, but almost all heat rays get through. S-LEC SCF filters out much of these heat rays in addition to ultraviolet rays.
Test results have shown that using a windshield fitted with the S-LEC SCF intermediate membrane reduces the temperature of the steering wheel, which often becomes unbearably hot in a packing lot in summer, by around 10 degrees when compared with standard windshields.

Take out the mid-infrared rays to beat the heat.

Sunlight exposure makes the skin burn, and the sunlight's mid-infrared rays-between 1,500 to 2,100 nm in wavelength-are said to have the most influence on heat. S-LEC SCF shuts out much of the light from this wavelength range. As demonstrated in the graph, the effectiveness of S-LEC SCF surpasses even those of heat absorbing green glass.

Heat, no. Radio, yes.

Traditional heat-reflecting glass with a metallic coating reflects radio waves, as well as heat, and could impede mobile phones and electronic toll collection (ETC) signals.
S-LEC SCF does not block radio waves across most frequency bands, so drivers and passengers can stay in touch while on the go.
